Are you looking for a heavy-duty truck that works hard, plays hard, and offers a little extra? Then look no further than the 2025 Ford F-250. Built with the integrity, durability, and tenacity that have made the F-Series the best trucks on the market, there are hidden layers to be found in this tour de force of a truck. Let’s dig a bit deeper and discover a few things you might not have known about the F-250.

The Basics

Before we start our journey, it’s important to cover the basics. Or, in the F-250’s case, the not-so-basics. This three-quarter-ton addition to Ford’s F-Series entered the truck scene in 1953. Since then, numerous generations have been produced. It has racked up an impressive list of awards and accolades, including winning Vincentric’s “Best Fleet Value In America” in the three-quarter ton pickup category five times, the 2024 “North American Truck Of The Year” award, and, most recently, a coveted spot on Car and Driver’s “Editor’s Choice” list for 2025.

The F-250 packs a serious punch in the specs department. The available Power Stroke High-Output engine churns out 500 hp and 1,200 lb-ft of torque, offering some serious muscle for towing up to 23,000 lbs. The max payload capacity of 4,240 lbs lets you haul whatever the job requires with ease.

The Ford F-250 is available in five trims for 2025:

  • XL
  • XLT
  • Lariat
  • King Ranch
  • Platinum

Balancing the Scales

A responsible truck owner knows their vehicle’s maximum payload rating. However, knowing how much the payload itself weighs can be difficult. Sure, you can look at labels or consult the internet, but then you might find yourself doing a lot of math before you can finish loading up. But with the 2025 F-250, you can just look at the infotainment screen for a close approximation of what’s in the bed and how much more weight you have to work with.

If that sounds like a better way to haul, then you’ll be happy to know that Onboard Scales with Smart Hitch is available on every trim of the 2025 F-250. In addition to measuring the weight of your payload, the second part of this feature can estimate the tongue weight of your trailer. As anyone who tows or hauls on the regular knows, the unexpected can and often does happen. Why not start out your trip with the best tools that will help make your job easier, from start to finish?

Running Boards That Know When to Go

Sometimes you need a step up into your truck. Literally. Running boards have become more common in recent years, adding treads, steps, and other ways to climb into the cab. Normally, though, the running boards are fixed in place. However, for owners of the 2025 F-250 Platinum, there’s a new way to keep your running boards where you need them: power deployable running boards.

What do power running boards do? They extend when the door is opened, moving closer to the ground to make stepping up into the truck easier. When the door is closed, they retract. This is an especially nice addition for drivers who plan to take their F-250 off-roading. The extra ground clearance reduces the chances that the running boards will be damaged by large rocks or other natural obstacles.

Diesel Drivers Can Go the Distance

Does the F-250 have options for diesel engines in 2025? It most certainly does! There are two diesel engine options available for 2025. The first is the 6.7L Power Stroke V8 Turbo Diesel. This engine provides 475 hp and 1,050 lb-ft of torque. The second is a 6.7L Power Stroke High Output V8 Turbo Diesel, which we previously mentioned. This option can churn out a powerful 1,200 lb-ft of torque, making it by far the most powerful pickup in the three-quarter-ton segment. That’s an extra 125 lb-ft compared to the Ram 2500 Cummins and 225 lb-ft more than the Silverado 2500 HD Duramax, ensuring you can dominate any jobsite without breaking a sweat.

One Good Turn Deserves More

One of the biggest challenges of towing is making sure your blind spot is clear when turning. In addition to your own blind spots, other drivers may not keep a proper distance from your truck and trailer, putting both you and them at risk. It takes practice, and even the most seasoned driver may still find themselves biting their nails when there’s rain, snow, slippery roads, or heavy traffic. The F-250 is here to make your turns less nerve-racking with Turn Signal View.

This feature uses a pair of cameras mounted on the side view mirrors, which are activated by putting on your turn signal and show the side of your truck and trailer that corresponds with the signal. The view will pop up on your center console screen, showing you in real time what’s going on in your blind spots. It can show you possible hazards, such as other vehicles or wildlife. This gives you the information to take the necessary steps to keep you and your passengers safe. The most important thing at the end of the day is that everyone on the trip or at the jobsite makes it safely back home.

Max Recline for Max Comfort

When your days are long and your nights are short, sometimes you have to get your rest where and when you can get it. With the Max Recline seats, that includes in your F-250. If you find yourself with a little time between appointments or needing a little shut eye more than a sandwich at lunch, then consider this your license to take a much-needed nap.

When the seats fold back, they can reach a nearly 180-degree angle. In other words, they transform into a bed. With the seats already built for comfort, taking a nap in your truck is no longer the last resort of the exhausted. But the Max Recline seats take it a step further, raising the seat bottom to give you proper lower back support. The upper seat back can also be rotated to ensure your neck gets the support it needs. Now that’s putting the power back into power nap.
